About Kathryn Mello, RN

Founder & Health Navigator, North Star Navigators

Kathryn brings 20 years of nursing experience to North Star Navigators, including 10 years in direct patient care and another decade in care coordination, case management, disease stabilization, and program development. Her approach is grounded in honest communication, realistic expectations, and care that is truly tailored to each person’s needs.

She works with existing care teams, insurance benefits, and community and state programs to ensure families maximize the resources they already have — reducing unnecessary out‑of‑pocket costs and avoiding the stress of reinventing the wheel.

As a Death Doula, Kathryn also supports individuals and families through end‑of‑life planning, emotional preparation, and practical decision‑making with compassion and dignity.

Graduate of the University of North Texas with BA in Sociology. Former school teacher from Presidio, TX. I've worked as a customer service specialist for American Airlines, and office manager for Data Spark Solutions.

20 years off and on with 5 years as full time care giver to elderly grandparents.
